Man Registers 14,962 Domains In 24 Hours!

Who registers 14,962 domains in 24 hours?  The next time you find yourself pounding your keyboard in frustration because the domain name you want is already taken, direct your ire towards Mike Mann.

Mann is one of the longest members of the clubby world of domain speculators, and he's buying up names in force these days. And not all on the aftermarket, as some others do. But new names. Mojang, Notch Purchase Cryptic Domains

The domains, called 0x012c, do not yet have a known pronunciation, but there has been extensive debate on Twitter. Notch gave Twitter followers one clue, "The real name has the "c" raised above the other letters. I won’t tell you how to pronounce it yet. It’s a riddle." So far, the most common guess is "Hex to the power of C," which opens up more questions than it answers. Read more here....

Microsoft Registers Domain Names For 'Halo Infinity'

With the team hard at work in the "crunch" stage of Halo 4, Microsoft is already looking towards the future. Fusible is reporting that Microsoft has registered domain names for "Halo Infinity". The site is reporting domains like HaloInfinity.net and HaloInfinityMultiplayer.com were picked up by Microsoft through the internet brand protection company MarkMonitor.  Read more here...

Google Buys RealTimeBidding.com - Premium Domain Name

Google buys the domain name containing the keywords Real Time Bidding.  The domain name RealTimeBidding.com has an interesting history. It was first registered back in 2001. It was then registered again in 2005 by a company that provides services to offline and online auctions having nothing to do with advertising. It expired in 2010 and was picked up by someone using GoDaddy whois privacy.  Read more here...

Wales bids for online domain names

Wales is making a bid for their own online domain names.  The creation of new internet domain names for Wales could put the small nation on the online map, Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones has said.
A bid for website addresses to end in ".wales" and ".cymru" is due to be officially submitted to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) later this month. It follows a decision last year by the regulator to increase the number of internet domain name endings.  Read about it here...
